Stephen Louis Rzucidlo, "Steve" or "RZ," 44, of Lincoln University, PA, passed away at home on October 1, 2025.
Steve was born on July 14, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Terrence Lally and his cherished mother, Patricia Marie Rzucidlo, who passed away a year earlier.
Steve experienced a tumultuous childhood, but through his persistence, faith in our Savior, and the support of his community, he overcame initial adversities to graduate from Kennett High School in 2000. Shortly after graduation, he volunteered for service and enlisted in the United States Army as an 11B Infantryman during a time of war. Steve—or "RZ," as his Army brothers came to call him—served with distinction, engaging in active combat operations in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He earned an impressive list of medals and badges, most notably the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
After honorably completing his initial active-duty contract, Steve relocated back to Pennsylvania and attended Delaware County Community College, where he continued to challenge himself and positively impact his community.
He later transferred to Temple University in Philadelphia to pursue an electrical engineering degree. There, he remained resolved in his academic goals while continuing to touch the lives of those around him. Drawing from his own combat experience, Steve connected with veterans freshly returning from war zones, helping ease their reintegration into civilian life. Despite his own struggles with the remnants of war, he was an essential source of support for others walking a similar path.
After earning his Bachelor's degree from Temple University, Steve continued his selfless contributions to the community. Following a move to Maryland, he actively volunteered at community soup kitchens and struggling veterans' homes, even as his own health began to deteriorate. Through every challenge, Steve never quit and maintained an optimistic outlook.
At the end of 2019, Steve's dream came to fruition when he became a homeowner in Pennsylvania. He took special care in restoring the property and continued his selfless service by opening his doors to others in need of a place to live. He also deepened his relationship with God through faith and action.
Steve held a lifelong fondness for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, his childhood church. The experiences he shared there made a profound impact, instilling in him a goodness that moved him to extend a hand to others when no one else would. Steve's faith and spiritual conviction touched many, bringing them out of despair and dark places.
Complementing his many accomplishments, Steve was an exquisite cook. He showcased his culinary skills privately and publicly, hosting summer events at his property that grew in reach each year. These gatherings allowed his community to experience Steve's warmth and generosity firsthand.
Steve is survived by two siblings, Jeremiah and April.
Though he never found a life partner, the incredible impact Steve made on those around him will be his surviving legacy—one that will live on for generations to come.
