Send Flowers Plant A Tree
Stephen "Steve" F. Said, a loving husband, father, "grandpoo", uncle, and friend, left this world on September 28, 2025, in The Woodlands, Texas, at the age of 72. A resident of The Woodlands since 1980, Steve lived a life full of adventure. He was at his happiest seeing his friends enjoying a show at Dosey Doe, scuba diving in the Caribbean, road tripping (with speed) through Texas with his wife Joan, spending time with his two grandkids, Remy and Phoebe, watching soccer with his son, Brad, talking about music with his daughter, Stephanie, sharing stories over a game of poker, taking on a new thrill (like learning and becoming certified to paraglide in France at age 70), encouraging Anthony to start his own business and making up words to beat Cali at a game of Scrabble. Always looking for his next adventure, Steve went through life shooting for the stars and enjoying the ride along the way.
With early success as a business owner and songwriter, Steve was born to own a music business. Steve was also a member of the Mechanical Bank Collectors Association, and it was during one of the annual conventions he found the inspiration to dismantle a barn and attach it to an existing house. Construction of Dosey Doe Big Barn began in 2004, and completed in 2006. His blood, sweat and tears can literally be found on each beam. The Big Barn remains one of the top listening rooms in the United States.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Joan; daughter, Stephanie; son, Brad and his wife Erin and their two children Remy and Phoebe; daughter, Cali Bollier; son, Anthony Adair Jozwiak; his brother, Roger Said and partner Katherine Melhorn; sister, Cynthia Mullady and her husband Tom; sister, Sarah Said Neil and her husband Craig; and last, but not least, multiple nephews and nieces. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Saliba, and mother, Peggy.
A celebration of life will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 13, at Dosey Doe Big Barn, 25911 I-45 North, Spring, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, please purchase Volume III of "Raising a Hand for Rett." This book features Steve, Dosey Doe Big Barn, and supports the search for a cure to end Rett Syndrome.
