Steve Miller

1945 - 2025

Steve Edward Miller, 79, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. Born on December 15, 1945, in Tulia, Texas, Steve lived a life rooted in hard work, family devotion, and a deep connection to the land and people around him.

A tireless farmer for many years and a dedicated module truck driver, Steve embodied the values of perseverance and humility. He was part of a generation that worked hard without complaint—a trait that defined his character throughout his life. Whether tending to his fields or hauling cotton modules across the Texas panhandle, Steve approached every task with quiet determination and pride.

Steve never met a stranger. His warm smile and easygoing nature made him a friend to all who crossed his path. He had an uncanny ability to make others feel welcome and valued—whether at a family reunion or during a quick stop at the local store. His generosity extended beyond words; he was known for mowing lawns all over Silverton—often without being asked—just because he cared about his community.

Family was at the heart of everything Steve did. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Tonnette Perkins and her husband Scott, and his son Terry Miller and Terry’s girlfriend Lisa Hunt—all of Silverton, Texas. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Zakkary Perkins of San Antonio; John Perkins of Amarillo; Hayden Miller of Borger; Whitney Hardin and her husband Seth of Greenville; and Jennifer Miller and her boyfriend Logan Russell of College Station.

Steve is also survived by two brothers: Jay Miller and his wife DeAnn of Royce City, Texas; Jerry Miller of Silverton, Texas; two sisters: Darlene Warford of Midland, Texas; Nora Misner of Norman, Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law: Jerry Crawford of Leonard, Texas; James Poteet of Gainesville, Texas; Gwan Lane Wilkinson and his wife Tiffany of Hedley, Texas; sister-in-law Peggy Wilkinson of Sulphur Springs, Texas; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews—and countless others who considered him family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Judy Mae Miller; his parents Larke and Mary Miller; three sisters—Joan Crawford, Carol Forsen, and Judy Poteet; brother-in-law Durwood Wilkinson; and sister-in-law Sheila Brooks.

Outside of work and family life, Steve found joy in simple pleasures: yard work that turned into acts of service for neighbors near and far; hunting trips that connected him with nature and tradition; time spent with grandchildren who brought light to his days; and family reunions where stories were shared over laughter-filled meals.

Though we feel incomplete without him here among us, we are not saddened—for we know he is whole again and reunited with the love of his life. His memory will live on in every freshly mowed lawn in Silverton, every story told at family gatherings, and every act of kindness inspired by the way he lived.

The family will have a Remembrance gathering at Steve Miller’s home on Saturday, October 11 from 2:00 to 4:00pm.

May Steve Edward Miller’s legacy bring comfort to those who knew him—and may we honor him by living as fully as he did.
