Steve Gordon Stewart

Steven (Steve) Gordon Stewart, 55, of Graham, NC, died unexpectedly on September 23, 2025. He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife Donna (Hopson) Stewart.
Steve grew up in Groveland, MA, the son of Heidi (Bar) Stewart and the late Gordon Stewart. He played sports throughout his youth and excelled in wrestling and football during his high school years at Pentucket Regional. Steve subsequently moved to NC to attend Elon College where he graduated in 1994.
He was employed by Duke University as a Fire Protection Specialist for the last twenty years. Steve was an active member of his church, Lamb's Chapel, in Burlington, NC, serving as an usher. He enjoyed riding his Harley with the Spirit Riders and other local motorcycle groups, and was involved in many charitable fundraisers with them.
Steve treasured his role as coach and mentor to his grandchildren and nephews, and reveled in their successes. Among his many interests, family was foremost. Steve was well-loved and is deeply missed by those he leaves behind.
They include his stepdaughters Jennifer (Brian) Tursich, Michele (Dale) Brooks, and Kristy (Jeff) Rowland; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Brothers Michael (Christy) Stewart, Karl (Amie) Stewart and Brian (Samara) Stewart; stepmother Elaine Stewart; 6 nephews, 3 great nieces and 4 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Emma Rowland.
A Celebration of Steve's life will be held on October 12 at 1:30 PM. at Lamb's Chapel, 3539 Alamance Road, Burlington, NC, 27215.
