Steven Richard Barnes passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born in Syracuse, New York, Steve spent much of his life in North Carolina before moving to live with family in Cumming, Georgia.

Steve was the proud father of Alexander Barnes and Laura Arsenault, and the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren: Dahlia, Oliver, and Jamison Hickman, Brody Abrams, and Liam, Eli, and Penelope Barnes. He is survived by his siblings Michele Masso, Michael Barnes, Doug Barnes, David Barnes, Melissa Binsbacher, Gregory Barnes, and Marnie Cirillo, and was preceded in death by his brothers Mark Barnes and Brian Barnes.

Steve leaves behind a wide circle of friends who enriched his life for many years.

A private service will be held in Georgia to honor Steve’s life, with a celebration of his memory planned for a later date in upstate New York.
