Susan Gail "Susie" Richter, age 74, passed away on November 10, 2025, in Everett, Washington. Born on May 5, 1951, in Seattle, she lived a life centered on family, community, and the joy of bringing people together.
At age 27, Susie married Monty Richter and began a new chapter in Darrington, Washington—She was deeply involved in civic service and education, dedicating countless hours to the Darrington School Board. In 1990, her efforts contributed to the construction of a new elementary school. A plaque at the school's entrance bears her name alongside fellow board members, honoring their lasting impact on generations of students.
Known for her culinary talents and warm hospitality, Susie's kitchen was a welcoming place where friends and family gathered for holidays, birthdays, and everyday meals.
She is remembered by her two children: Jennifer Jankowski of Darrington, Washington; and Zack Richter (Shawna) of Concrete, Washington. Her legacy continues through her eleven grandchildren: Natalie, Kole, Kinden, Dorian, Casten, Hanah, Alyx, Kolbie, Zackary Jr., Ryder, and Johnny.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Wanda Murdock, and by her son-in-law Richard Jankowski.
A memorial service will be held on December 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Darrington Community Center Dining Room, 570 Sauk Avenue.
Susie's life was one of generosity and enduring love—a life that touched many within her community and beyond. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and cherished her.
