Sylvia Gholston

Sylvia Gholston, a beloved wife, extraordinary mother, phenomenal grandmother, and compassionate educator peacefully passed away on October 14, 2025.
Sylvia was born in Chicago, IL on November 4, 1952 to Wilma Coleman and Kenneth Dulin. At a young age, Sylvia received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and committed her life to sharing the love of Jesus wherever she went.
Sylvia was the proud wife of Thomas Gholston and together they created a beautiful family. Everyone who knew Sylvia, knew how much she loved her family, especially her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grands.
For more than 27 years, Sylvia, affectionally known as Mrs. G, inspired thousands of students as an educator and role model at Heritage Middle School in Lansing, IL.
Sylvia, loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart and loved to serve God's people. She was a cherished member at Family Christian Center for over 25 years, where she served faithfully on the HUGS ministry.
Known for her nurturing spirit, compassionate heart, peacefulness, and unconditional love, Sylvia leaves to cherish her loving memory, her four children, Cynthia Coleman, Tanika Gray (Gary), Terrell Gholston (London), and Dr. Shabrina Gholston; her loving sisters, Carol Jones, Jacqueline Perry, and Shelia Perry; her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of family, friends, colleagues, and former students who will forever cherish her life, love, and legacy.
