Tange Renee Thompson-Colunga, age 65, of Payson, Arizona, passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Derek Colunga, son Derrick Thompson, grandson Ezra Thompson, granddaughter Eden Thompson, sister Judy Mangione, sister Barbra James, brother Keith Vaughn, brother Raymond Vaughn, ten nieces and nephews and countless friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Kent and Marilyn as well as her sister Margaret Carpentiero.
Tange grew up in San Bernardino, California where she attended Pacific High School Class of 1978. She lived in various places throughout California over the years. Most recently, she spent several years in the Menifee, California area where she enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, crafting and homemaking. Tange may have had some struggles, but she lived life to the fullest, realizing that life is fragile and fleeting. She loved animals, nature, gardening and helping less fortunate people (always standing up for the underdog). She would do anything for her family and had a special connection to music as a means of expressing herself and relieving stress and negative emotions. She was very quick-witted and made everyone around her laugh. Her friends and family will hold tight to the memories of the laughter she brought as well as her deep love of music. It was heartbreaking to watch as Tange struggled with her health in recent years, and, although we'd give anything to have her in our lives still, her family is grateful to know that Tange is finally at peace and resting, pain-free in the loving arms of Jesus.
