Thomas "Tom" Marra, passed away on November 11, 2025, just weeks before his 70th birthday, following a long battle with kidney disease. A resident of Bristol, Connecticut for almost 40 years, Tom always considered Tuckahoe, New York, his true home.
Tom was a devoted husband to his wife of 42 years, Jayne. He was also a loving father to his sons and their wives, Thomas and his wife Kristin, Michael and his wife Marissa, and Lucas. He took great joy in supporting their interests, coaching football, building theater sets, crafting pinewood derby tracks, and encouraging musical pursuits. He cherished his role as grandfather to Brynn Addison and eagerly anticipated the arrival of her sister, Olivia Grace, daughters of Michael and Marissa. He cherished every moment spent with them and expressed heartfelt regret in his final days that he wouldn't have more time with them or at his beloved house on Lake Williams.
He is also remembered by his sisters LuAnn Marra and Sally Hessenius, sister-in-law Diane and her husband William Snyder, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins and many dear friends who enriched his life over the years. He was predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Lucy Marra.
Tom earned engineering degrees at Milwaukee School of Engineering and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He loved his career in commercial construction. Tom often worked long hours and would even cut vacations short to return to job sites. On days off he would take his family to see projects in progress or drive friends and loved ones around Connecticut to point out buildings he had worked on.
Outside of work and family life, Tom loved being out in nature. He enjoyed bird watching, archery, hunting, fishing, and training his Irish Water Spaniel to retrieve waterfowl. He delighted in cooking and preparing meals for family gatherings or experimenting with new recipes just to share something special with those around him. Later in life, Tom discovered woodturning. This craft allowed him to create beautiful wood bowls and gifts for loved ones. Tom also gave back to his community through many years of service on the Bristol Zoning Commission.
