The family of Thomas Isaac Newbauer is saddened to announce his passing Thursday September 25, 2025, at Wayne Hospice, Greenville, Ohio.
Born September 11, 1944, in Union City Indiana, to the late Louis Isaac and Ruby Mangas Newbauer. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Gudrun Carr Newbauer.
Thomas, a lifelong resident of Greenville, is survived by his twin sisters, Marilyn Miller Sedgwick and Carolyn (Ed) Davis of Arlington Texas.
He grew up on a farm outside of Greenville with his sisters and spent many hours exploring; the farm was our playground and is now known as Chenoweth Trails, a part of The Matt Light Foundation.
He was employed for many years at Union City Body Company. Upon retirement he took up golf as a hobby. A hobby that brought him much pleasure over the years! Bowling was another sport he enjoyed as well as working on restoring his Triumph motorcycle.
Those left to cherish his memory; daughters Ellen (Sim) Santos of Myrtle Beach, SC; Kim Carr (Shelly Jagow) of Dayton, OH; sons Jerry (Terri) Carr of Waco, TX; Thomas Isaac Jr. (T J) (Michelle) Newbauer of Bellefonte, PA; and Philip Newbauer of Bloomville, OH.
Grandchildren Rebecca Haist, Carly (Brad) Firth, Chase Newbauer, Chloe Newbauer, Trevor (Breanna) Newbauer, Lauren Newbauer (Trent Gilbert) Lucas Newbauer, Nora (Robert) Sims.
Nine Great grandchildren; Nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.
Tom and Gudrun attended St Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville. They were active members of the Eagles organization where they participated in social events and enjoyed dancing together. In the end one thing that Parkinson's could not take from Tom was his fun sense of humor!
A very special thank you to Kim Carr and Nevin Plummer, also family, neighbors and friends who helped with Tom's care.
Thomas donated his body to Wright State University for medical research, however we would like to invite the community to a celebration of life. The celebration is scheduled for Saturday October 25th at 11 am at The St. Paul's Lutheran Church located at 131 E 4th Street in Greenville, Ohio. Please bring lots of fond memories and warm thoughts to share with all.
