Thomas Gregory Tift

1947 - 2025

Thomas Gregory Tift of Newport Beach, California, passed away peacefully at 1:45 a.m. on August 22, 2025, at Clearwater Living in Newport Beach. He was 79 years old.

Tom was born on January 26, 1947, in Pasadena, California. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Karen, with whom he shared many wonderful years until her passing in 2007. Together, they built a loving family that was always at the center of Tom's world.

He is survived by his two sons, Todd and Wade, his daughters-in-law, Amy and Allie, his sister, Terry, his brother Trace, his nieces Angela and Traci-Christine, his grandchildren Owen, Sydney, Jax, Brandon, Holland and Eden, and his great granddaughter, Olive. He is reunited in heaven with Karen, Candace, his parents Earl and Ethel Mae, and others he loved.

Tom's life was defined by his devotion to his family. He never missed a sporting event or family activity, and he always encouraged his children and grandchildren in every pursuit-teaching them to drive, supporting their dreams, and listening without judgement. He believed deeply in education, hard work, and pursuing happiness in whatever form it took. Tom was an avid and successful businessman.

Known for his ever-present smile, kind heart, and wonderful sense of humor, Tom had a gift for making people feel loved. He touched countless lives, from family and friends to neighbors and even those he just met. Wherever he went, he spoke to everyone like they were family. On the night of his passing, surrounded by loved ones and caring staff, Tom left this world just as he lived it-with kindness, warmth, and a big, loving smile.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to his family. He was a devoted son, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all.

As we say goodbye, we remember the phrase Tom ended every call, note, and visit with-three simple words that captured his outlook on life: "Enjoy the day!"
