Timothy Henley Rush, age 78, passed away September 11, 2025 in Doerun, Georgia. He had recently moved from Broussard, Louisiana, where he had lived for 24 years. Mr. Rush was born June 24, 1947 in Rome, Georgia. He was a 1966 graduate of Pensacola High School and a 1970 graduate of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he received a Batchlor of Science degree in forestry.
He retired in 2009 as forester in the State Land Office, Division of Administration, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Mr. Rush served in the United States Army Reserve, Infantry, with the rank of Second Lieutenant.
Mr. Rush was an outdoors-man who enjoyed fishing, shrimping, hunting quail and dove, as well as deer hunting on his tree farm with his grandchildren.He was a fan of cajun and zydeco music, boudin and gumbo.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Loretta Martin Rush, son Benjamin Rush (Caroline), grandchildren Beau Rush, Avery Rush, and Woods Miller, all of Tallahassee, Florida. Other survivors include his sister and brother of Pensacola, Eileen Rush Beard and Roddy Rush. Also surviving Mr. Rush are sisters-in-law, Melva Martin Lopez of Jennings, Louisiana and Donna Martin Lyon (Steve) of Lafayette, Louisiana. Four nieces and two nephews also survive him.
Mr. Rush was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henley Rush and Kathleen Renfroe Rush of Pensacola, Florida, his father in-law and mother in-law, Raney Martin and Nemez Istre Martin of Estherwood, Louisiana, and brother in-law Ernest Lopez of Jennings, Louisiana.
Cremation arrangements were coordinated by Banks Funeral Home , Sylvester, Georgia and Kimbrell-Stern, Inc., Albany, Georgia. Mr. Rush's remains will be returned to Louisiana for a private family graveside service.
