“We little knew that day, the world would be a little less bright without her laughter and light.”
Tonia Marie Sandifer Christensen, a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, just days after celebrating her 60th birthday. Born October 4, 1965, in White Castle, Louisiana, Tonia lived her life with a spirit and kindness that touched everyone she met.

Tonia was the beloved daughter of Judith LeJeune and Steve LeJeune, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her wife and partner, Jeralyn Panepinto; her son and daughter-in-law, Corey Benschop and Natascha Magnusson; her sister and brother-in-law, Tessa and Todd Labatut; and her niece, Bailey Labatut. She also leaves behind many cherished friends and extended family, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Tonia was a free spirit, known for her independent personality and her ability to bring laughter and joy into any room. She joined the Navy at a young age, traveling the country from Louisiana to California and Arkansas, making friends everywhere she went. Tonia had a gift for connecting with people - she always had time to listen, to ask about your day, and to make you feel welcome.

She was passionate about reading, creating art, and solving sudoku puzzles. Tonia loved the magic of New Orleans, the beauty of Arkansas crystals, and the fun of sharing her daily adventures as @cajuntea on TikTok, where she brought smiles and laughter to so many. She enjoyed traveling, dining out, and learning about all the things that piqued her curiosity, from crypto and cats to plants and, in her own words, “weed stuff, lol.” Her intelligence, wit, and warmth were unmatched.

Even as she faced hardship and suffering in recent years, Tonia remained positive, always finding reasons to smile and spread joy to others. She was quirky, unpredictable, and full of life - a truly special lady who touched more people than she ever knew.

Tonia’s family will honor her memory with a celebration of life at her home in Addis, Louisiana, on Saturday, October 11, at 2 p.m. All who loved her are welcome to join and share stories, laughter, and love.

Tonia’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She taught us all the importance of being ourselves and living every day to the fullest.: “At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.” - Frida Kahlo

Rest easy, Tonia, and rock on! The world is brighter because you were in it.
