Velma Arlene (Sosinski) Buls
(July 9, 1926 - October 3, 2025)

Velma was born to Agnes and Anton (Tony) Sosinski on July 9, 1926 in Mankato, Minnesota. She was the youngest of five sisters and lived on a farm near Lewisville, Minnesota. She graduated from Truman High School in 1944 and became the first in her family to attend college at Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska. At CTC she met the love of her life, Alfred Buls. They married in 1947 and celebrated their 78th wedding anniversary in June of 2025.

She taught school in Athens, WI, Winfield KS and Maplewood, MO, enabling Al to complete his theological studies for the ministry. She was a supportive minister's wife in parishes in Kinston, NC, Nashville, IL, Granite City IL and University City, MO.

She graduated from Washington University with a BS in education in 1975. She worked as a librarian, starting a media center at Bethel Lutheran School. In 1981 she took a job as administrative assistant to the principal of Clayton High School. As her resume says, she never missed a day in 6 years .In 1987 she retired and with Alfred moved to Baltimore to be closer to their children. In 2005 they moved to Mercy Ridge.

Velma was very active, loved to travel, bicycle, play games, visit art galleries or attend the symphony. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved watching the Orioles and was Adley Rutshman's biggest fan.

Alfred preceded her in death by a month. An infant son, Martin, passed away in 1960. She is survived by three children Daniel, Kathryn (Joel Beckwith), Kristine (Asaf Keller), six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
