Victor Manuel Reid Caro, 80, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025. Born in Orlando, he lived a life marked by discipline, intellect, and devotion to family and service.
After graduating from high school in 1963, Victor enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1965 to 1969 as an Aerospace Medical Service Specialist with the Pacific Air Forces at Clark Air Base in the Philippines and Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant, he earned degrees in biomedical engineering from the University of Florida and the University of South Florida under the G.I. Bill.
Victor built a four-decade career in medical technology, contributing to advances in prosthetics and cardiovascular implant design at Medtronic and Florida Biotech Systems. Remembered for his integrity and quiet mentorship, he balanced scientific precision with compassion for others.
He is survived by his children Laura Reid, John Reid, and Michael Caro, and by grandchildren Sophie Reid, Ashley Reid, Lucas Reid, Daniel Caro and Isabella Caro.
