Virginia Lois "Ginny" Nickerson, 92, of Cumberland Foreside, Maine, formerly of Stoneham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born in Stoneham on May 20, 1933, to the late Milton and Clara Foote, Ginny was a strong, intelligent, and creative woman whose life was defined by dedication to her family, faith, and work. On May 15, 1954, Ginny married the love of her life, Paul Nickerson, and together they raised four children.

A tireless worker, she was self-employed alongside Paul for more than 20 years as a Certified Pool Operator (CPO), meticulously maintaining the water quality of commercial pools throughout the Boston area. She also shared her lifelong passion for swimming as an instructor for over four decades with the YMCA and through her own successful program, Funtime Aquatics.

Ginny's creativity shone through her exceptional sewing skills, where she designed and made countless pieces, from intricate square-dance dresses to professional color-guard uniforms. Her creative spirit extended into her community, where she helped lead a local square-dance group for teenagers. A devoted member of St. James United Methodist Church, Ginny poured her energy into her church family, teaching Sunday school, running a thriving youth group, and maintaining the church building when the congregation lacked a minister. Known for her ability to "fix anything," Ginny also found joy in gardening and, above all, in spending time with her family.

Ginny is predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Nickerson; her parents, Milton and Clara Foote; her sister, Beula "Bea" Foote LaCroix; her brother, Stanley Foote; her brothers-in-law, Ray LaCroix, Peter S. Smith, Donald Nickerson, and Robert Nickerson; and her grandchild, Casey Elizabeth Green.

She is survived by her loving children: Dana Nickerson and his wife, Jane; Gary Nickerson and his wife, Donna; Dawna Green and her husband, Rick; and Sandra Flanagan and her husband, Michael.

She also leaves behind her sister, Carol Smith, and sisters-in-law, Roxanne Nickerson and Evi McKay.

Ginny will be dearly missed by her ten grandchildren: Amanda Swager, Trevor Nickerson, Paul Nickerson, Sarah DiDonato, David Nickerson, Matthew Nickerson, Adam Green, Erica Damon, Richard Flanagan, and Jessica Flanagan, as well as her eight great-grandchildren: Robert and Eliana DiDonato, James Nickerson, Zoe Swager, Caleb and Liliana Green, and Penelope and Evelyn Damon.
