Born on March 29, 1943, in Paterson, NJ, to the late Walter Lobb Hearn and Lucille Edna Black-Hearn, Larry grew up in Wayne, NJ, where he developed the strong work ethic and warm spirit that would define his life.
While still in high school, Larry began his service to his country by joining the United States Naval Reserve from 1959 to 1961. After graduating, he continued his military service with active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965, where he was attached to the USMC (FMF). He built a life in Elmwood Park, NJ, with his beloved wife, Lois J. Hurley-Hearn, where they shared many happy years together until her passing in 2011. Larry later moved to Garfield in 2011.
Throughout his diverse career, Larry worked in dental sales, restaurant management, and as a pest control inspector, retiring from Ace Walco Pest Control in 2009. He brought dedication and integrity to every role he undertook.
Larry had a deep love for fishing and was an active member of the New Jersey Fisherman's Club, spending countless peaceful hours pursuing his passion. A skilled craftsman, he enjoyed making custom fishing rods, blending his love of the sport with his creative talents. His faith was central to his life, and he was a devoted member of Elmwood Park Presbyterian Church, where he taught Bible study, and more recently, Maywood Presbyterian Church for the past two years.
