William "Bill" Newton Fenstermaker

William "Bill" Newton Fenstermaker, 79, of Whitehall, PA, passed away on October 13, 2025. Born on December 10, 1945, he was the son of the late William and Alice (Williams) Fenstermaker. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty Ann Lewis), his sisters, Nancy Novotny and Sally Buchmiller, and his aunt, Joyce Williams.
Bill was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1973, including a deployment to Vietnam, showcasing his patriotism and bravery. After his military service, he embarked on a career that began at Two Guys, followed by various positions before joining Verizon, formerly Bell Atlantic, where he retired.
He graduated from Whitehall High School and was a longtime member of Northampton Assembly of God, deeply involved in his faith community. Bill was known for his sharp wit and sense of humor. He cherished moments spent with his dogs, Happy and Koda, and had a nightly ritual of enjoying Utz chips with a glass of milk.
An avid reader, Bill loved his morning papers, frequented book fairs, and was a regular at local libraries. He enjoyed southern gospel concerts, especially with his wife, Betty Ann. Bill was the heart of family gatherings, known for hosting spaghetti dinners for his grandchildren and holiday dinners at his home, affectionately known as Papa and Grammy's.
Bill is survived by his sister, Kay Fenstermaker of Whitehall; daughters, Kathy (Darcy) Calkins of Whitehall, Mary (Shawn) Furry of Hamburg, and Elizabeth (Anthony) Hough of Jim Thorpe; grandchildren Destiny (Nate) George, Ashley Hough, Zachary Parsons, Kalyn, Erin, Katie, Maddy, Colton, Shawn Jr., Kylee, Antionette, Emily, and Caden; and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Rhett, Levi, and Bennett.
A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at Faith Evangelical Church, 3355 MacArthur Rd, Whitehall, PA, on November 15, at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Veterans Association at http://vetsaa.org, honoring Bill's dedication to fellow veterans.
