Send Flowers Plant A Tree
William Vann "Bill" Hasty Sr., 78, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Debary, Florida, just days before his 79th birthday. A man of keen wit and sharp intellect, Bill was called home too early by God after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 8, 1946, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Bill was the son of Inez Boland Hasty and Marvin "Buck" Van Hasty. He carried forward the values instilled in him by his parents—compassion, loyalty, and a deep sense of responsibility—throughout every chapter of his life.

Bill pursued higher education at Western Carolina University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserves. He served honorably for four years and completed his service with the rank of Private First Class (PFC). A proud patriot throughout his life, Bill held deep respect for those who served and remained steadfast in his support for the nation he loved.

Following his military service, Bill began a long and dedicated career with Case IH. It was his first job after college and the same one he retired from. Over many decades with the company, he demonstrated unwavering commitment and professionalism. His loyalty to his work mirrored the devotion he showed to those closest to him.

Bill found joy not only in his professional accomplishments, but also in life's simple pleasures. He loved offshore fishing and spent many long hours casting lines into blue waters. Golfing with friends brought him camaraderie and laughter—often punctuated by his signature quick dry wit and the ever-present disappointment that he did not shoot the perfect game that day. And few things delighted him more than enjoying oysters at the beach with Judi - a favorite indulgence that reflected his appreciation for good food and good company.

Above all else, Bill was proud of his family. He is survived by his devoted life partner Judi Mazur; his brother Bobby Hasty and sister-in-law Tricia Hasty; his son William "Vann" Hasty Jr. and daughter-in-law Dana Hasty; grandchildren Caroline Hasty 24 and William "Vann" Hasty III 20; as well as step-grandchildren John Rively 30, Kyle Rively 26, and Ryan Hasty 17. He loved very deeply Judi's son Mark Viner and his wife Michelle Viner, and her daughter Kristie Datz and her husband Corey Datz. His love for all of them was boundless and unwavering.

He now joins in eternal rest with his beloved parents Buck and Inez Hasty and youngest son Justin Lee Hasty, who passed away at age 16. Bill's legacy is one of compassion, strength, humor, and enduring love—a legacy that will live on through those who knew him best. He was a fundamentally happy man whose warmth left an impression on everyone he met. An old friend once said that Bill "laughed with his whole face," those who knew him best will smile at that upon reading.

May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to share in his remarkable journey. Honoring his wishes for no services, there will be a small private family scattering of Bill's ashes on October 17 on the St. John's river near DeBary Florida. Soon there will be a gathering open to all his old friends and the rest of the family in Charlotte, North Carolina. Details of that are to be announced.

His family requests that donations, in lieu of flowers be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of his life, on the internet at https://www.stjude.org/donate or by phone 1-800-805-5856.
