William Bernard "Bill" Prescott, 77, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Burgaw, North Carolina on February 7, 1948, the second of three sons to Bernard and Katie Prescott. From 1966-1968 he served in the United States Army before joining the Wilmington NC Police Department in 1971. He spent the next 30 years serving the Wilmington community and retired with the rank of Sergeant. In Wilmington, he met his wife of 51 years, Patricia Prescott, where they built a home and raised their son, Wesley. Bill's role as father was one he enjoyed. When he wasn't coaching Little League, camping in the woods as a Boy Scout Master, or yelling from the bleachers at Wesley's football games and wrestling matches, he was teaching Wesley how to run lawn equipment, learn property management, and to always serve others with respect and a kind heart. He enjoyed his later years of retirement by spending time with his grandsons. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and his younger brother, Joseph.

Bill is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Patricia, son Wesley (Natalie) Prescott, and his grandsons Wesley Julian and Wyatt Joseph. He is also survived by his oldest brother Tom Prescott (Kay), Brother-in-Law William Flowers, and many nieces and nephews, Christy Gray (Rex) and their children Christopher and Jessica, Patsy Brinson (Eddie) and their children Hannah and Samantha, Julie Schultz (Kelly) and their children Jade and Daniel, Vickie Carter and her son Jacob, Dorian Flowers (Michelle) and their daughter Leah, Chris Prescott, Mark Prescott (Candy) and their children Camryn and Drake. Bill leaves behind his beloved fur babies Bailey, Michelangelo, Marley, Jake, and Russ.

A graveside service was held November 8, 2025 in Monticello, GA. A Memorial and Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 1:00pm at the New Hanover County Law Enforcement Officers Association building 5301 Holly Shelter Road, Castle Hayne, NC 28429.
