William Pyburn

1935 - 2025

William Fred "Bill" Pyburn, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025, in Miramar Beach, Florida. Born on April 13, 1935, in Nashville, Tennessee, Bill lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a deep love for his community.

Bill graduated from David Lipscomb High School in Nashville and went on to attend Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. His early years laid the foundation for a life of hard work and commitment that would span multiple careers and decades of service.

He began his professional journey with BellSouth, where he built a successful 30-year career. Never one to slow down, Bill embarked on a second career with 3M, traveling throughout the Southeast for 15 years. Even after those accomplishments, he found yet another calling as an ambassador for Music City at the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, where he served joyfully for over 24 years. In this role, Bill became a familiar face to countless visitors and locals alike—sharing his love for Nashville with warmth and enthusiasm.

Bill also proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Parris Island, South Carolina, and Cherry Point, North Carolina during his two years of service. His time in the Marines instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline and pride that remained evident throughout his life.

A man of deep faith, Bill was a devoted member of Bellshire United Methodist Church. His spiritual life was central to who he was—a source of strength and guidance through all seasons.

Bill's heart belonged first and foremost to his family. He shared 71 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife Doris Pyburn. Together they raised three children: daughter Kim Pyburn; son Craig Pyburn and his wife Tonia; and daughter Julie Spencer and her husband David. One of Bill's greatest joys was being "Grand=grand-daddy" to his cherished granddaughter Celia Pyburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Hite Pyburn and Fred Pyburn; sister Joyce Pyburn Williams; brothers David Pyburn and Steve Pyburn.

Bill had many passions that brought color to his days. A lifelong fan of Vanderbilt University athletics and the Nashville Predators, he followed both teams with unwavering loyalty. He had a deep appreciation for old-time country and gospel music—especially artists like The Gaithers, George Jones and The Louvin Brothers—and could often be found enjoying their timeless melodies.

Those who knew Bill will remember him for his boundless compassion toward people and animals alike. His ever-positive outlook on life was infectious; he had an uncanny ability to lift spirits simply by being present. Whether at home or traveling with loved ones, time spent with family meant everything to him.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tracey Doering for her exceptional care over the years—a kindness that did not go unnoticed by Bill or those closest to him.

May William Fred "Bill" Pyburn's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire kindness, joy, and love in the lives he touched. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM at Bellshire United Methodist Church 1201 Westchester Drive, with a Celebration of Life to follow, at 03:00 PM.
