William Earl Vaughn

Mr. William Earl Vaughn from Griffin Indiana, age 80 passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Franciscan Health, Dyer Indiana, alongside him, his dedicated wife, Celestine which he often called "Princess". Vaughn was born on August 7, 1945 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to Rudolph V. Vaughn and Geraldine Simmons and raised in Chicago, IL. During his early years Vaughn attended the Chicago Military Academy. He also worked as a police officer and at the "Studebaker" car dealership in Chicago, Illinois. Vaughn often mentioned his time spent making leather products. The majority of his work career was spent at Inland Steel as a furnace operator in 2BOF, is where he retired after working 44 years, which is currently known as Cleveland Cliffs, Inc. If you really knew Vaughn, you knew his passion was time spent enjoying all of the local casinos. The Horseshoe Hammond, IN, The Ameristar, East Chicago, IN, The Blue Chip in Michigan City, IN, Four Winds and the Hard Rock in Gary, IN which turned out to be his favorite.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, several siblings. First wife Bernice and son, Dontay D. Vaughn.

Vaughn's passing will be remembered and cherished by his loving wife Celestine; son, William Vaughn Jr.; three daughters, Felicia (Glenn), Tammy Anderson, and Ashara Vaughn; One sister, Barbara Brooks of Chicago, IL; Four brothers-in law, Maurice Harris, Leon (Adrian), Mark (Lenora) Harris and Tyrone Harris; three sisters-in-law, Anna Grand, Edna Williams, Christine Warren and Leona Harris; Twelve grandchildren; great grands, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Vaughn's life with a memorial service to be held on Saturday November 29, 2025, at McDuffie Funeral & Cremation Services, 1525 Broadway, Gary, In 46407.
