Yolanda “Yoli” Alcoset, 78, passed away on September 25, 2025, in Fabens, Texas. Born on September 14, 1947, in Ysleta, Texas, she lived a life marked by compassion, faith, and unwavering dedication to those around her.
Yoli graduated from Fabens High School in Fabens, Texas, and went on to pursue higher education at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Her professional journey reflected her nurturing spirit and commitment to service. Early in her career, she worked as a secretary and receptionist for Project Bravo. She later served as a nanny before finding her true calling as a Special Educational Aide with Fabens Independent School District. In this role, she touched the lives of countless students with patience and kindness until her retirement.
A woman of deep faith, Yoli held a profound devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary through Our Lady of Guadalupe and her beloved Saint Jude. Her spiritual life was central to who she was—always compassionate toward others and steadfast in seeing the good in people of all ages. Her gentle demeanor and selfless nature left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. In her later life she was plagued with many health issues but never complained or gave in to those issues. She held steadfast,strong and good natured throughout this ordeal.
Yoli found joy in simple pleasures: reading, listening to music and dancing to the oldies but goodies,preparing meals for loved ones, and cheering on her favorite football team—the Dallas Cowboys. These hobbies brought her comfort and connection throughout her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister Bertha Vasquez; brothers Efrain Alcoset, Severo Alcoset Jr.(Tana Hiltz), and Abel Alcoset; and by her cherished nieces and nephews: Art Vasquez, Ida Vasquez, Amanda Vasquez Murgatroyd, Adrian Alcoset, Lisette Alcoset-Donahue, and Ana Kansteiner. Yoli also held close to her heart several grandnieces and grandnephews who brought great joy into her life,in particular her grandniece Iliana Belen who is like a daughter to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominga Carbajal Alcoset and Severo Alcoset; as well as by her sisters Hortencia “Tencha” Alcoset and Josefina Goetz.
Yoli’s legacy is one of kindness, humility, and enduring love. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her to live with compassion and grace.
