With broken hearts and endless love, we share the passing of Zofia Kowalczyk, who left us on October 13, 2025 at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City after a brave and unwavering fight against cancer.

Zofia was born in Poland on August 28, 1951, and in 1980, she courageously began a new chapter in America—a place where she would build a life defined by resilience, strength, and love. She dedicated her career to food science, working as a chemist at Conagra until her retirement in 2016. She took great pride in her work, her accomplishments, and the life she created through her determination.

More than anything, Zofia’s greatest joy was being a mother to her two daughters, Magdalena Walsh (married to Todd Walsh) and Monica Kowalczyk. She poured her heart into raising them with unconditional love, support, and strength. Though she did not have grandchildren, her nurturing spirit touched everyone lucky enough to know her.

Zofia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Piotrek and Zofia Szablowski, and her brother Edward Szablowski. She is survived by her loving brother, Tadeusz Szablowski, as well as her daughters, extended family, and dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

In her later years, Zofia embraced life in Florida, where she found joy in warm sunny days, the beach, and gardening. She loved traveling, sharing stories with friends, and spending meaningful time with her family. She had a natural way of making the everyday feel special.

Zofia will always be remembered for her tenacious spirit, her courage, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her warmth, laughter, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her most.
